Mission Moment: Laura Mahony, Board Chair

December 1, 2020

We asked our board chair, Laura Mahony, to share her mission moment with the Children's Attention Home. Here is what she had to say...

"One of the memories that has most stuck with me about the Children's Attention home was when one time I stopped by the home, a former resident was visiting the staff there. I was told that he comes back to visit quite often and even comes back to get help filling out his tax forms. This was such a touching and impactful thing! We sometimes forget how much we rely on family for these types of things, taxes, advice, just general help with adulting. We often forget that these kids don't have that in their life and it is such a disadvantage.

I was so proud that the staff at the home remains part of the residents' lives well beyond the time they stay there. I think anyone can agree that someone who helps you with your taxes is definitely someone who cares about you! It speaks to just how dedicated the staff at the home is and that it is a true family for so many of these children and adolescents that don't have one."
