Transforming Spaces, Strengthening Futures: The Lutz Foundation's Story
For more than a decade, the C. Herbert and Anna E. Lutz Foundation has been a steadfast partner in creating a campus where children can feel safe, supported, and at home. Since 2013, the Foundation has invested more than $337,000 in projects that strengthen the environment where healing happens every day.
What began as general support for shelter and basic needs has grown into a long‑term commitment to transforming the spaces where youth live, learn, and grow. Each project reflects a deep belief in the Home’s mission and a willingness to invest in the details that make daily life better for our young people.
A Legacy of Meaningful Improvements
Over the years, the Lutz Foundation has helped bring to life a wide range of campus enhancements, including:
-
2013–2014: Grants supporting general shelter and essential needs
-
2015-2016: Clearing land to create an athletic field for recreation and play and constructing a backyard pavilion for outdoor gatherings and connection
-
2017: Installing tankless hot water heaters in cottages for comfort and reliability
-
2018–2019: Updating cottage floors with warm, home‑like faux wood finishes
-
2021: Renovating the dining hall to create a welcoming space for shared meals
-
2022: Upgrading the main kitchen and improving water fountains in the programs building
-
2023-2024: Renovating bathrooms in all three cottages
-
2025: Purchasing a new van to support transportation and youth activities
-
2026: Refreshing and improving shared living spaces in Morris cottage
Each of these projects has strengthened the foundation of daily life at the Home—creating spaces that promote dignity, stability, and belonging.
A Partnership Rooted in Care
The Lutz Foundation’s support has touched nearly every corner of campus, shaping the environment where youth build routines, share meals, practice independence, and begin to heal. Their generosity has helped create athletic spaces for play, warm and functional kitchens for nourishment, updated bathrooms that reflect dignity, and living spaces that feel like home.
Most importantly, their partnership has ensured that the Home can continue offering environments that match the level of care our team provides—spaces that say to every young person, “You matter, and you deserve a place where you can grow.”
Their unwavering commitment is woven into the fabric of the campus and the lives of the youth who walk through the Home’s doors each day and for years to come.
