Rooted in Community: The Springs Close Foundation & Children's Attention Home

April 28, 2026

Committed to strengthening the communities it serves, The Springs Close Foundation invests in local people, organizations, and initiatives that help improve their quality of life. This mission aligns closely with the Children’s Attention Home’s commitment to providing safety, stability, and support for young people in crisis, making the Home a natural partner in the Foundation’s work. Through sustained grantmaking and hands-on collaboration, the Foundation helps ensure vulnerable youth across Chester, Lancaster, and York counties have a safe place to land and the resources they need to move forward.

“For more than 20 years, The Springs Close Foundation has proudly supported the Children’s Attention Home. Over that time, we have had the privilege of seeing firsthand the difference they make in the lives of children and families in our community. Their work is not only impactful—it is deeply meaningful, and it continues to inspire us,” shared Executive Director Michele Lineberger.

In 2024, that shared commitment turned into a powerful step forward. Together, the Foundation in partnership with its York County Board made a major investment in the Home’s Way Forward Campaign with a combined $150,000 grant. That support is helping expand the campus, strengthen staffing, enhance programming, and deepen the steady sense of home that every young person deserves.

That capital investment reflects a long-standing partnership grounded in shared purpose and ongoing collaboration. In 2015, as part of its 75th anniversary celebration, The Springs Close Foundation honored the Home with its “Fabric of the Community” award for exemplary service. Just last year, a Winthrop Close Scholar alum selected the Home as their charity of choice, in honor of his internship spent at the Home years ago.

And when unexpected needs arise, the Foundation continues to show up, as it did last Thanksgiving when the Home’s walk-in cooler broke down. The Foundation quickly approved a $3,000 Thanksgiving Emergency Food Grant, helping relieve the immediate stress and ensuring youth at the Home could still share a meaningful holiday meal.

“The Children’s Attention Home is more than just a place; it is a safe, welcoming, and peaceful home for those who need it most. It has been a true blessing to so many, offering stability, care, and hope during difficult times,” shared Lineberger. “The York County Community Board believes strongly in the mission of the Children’s Attention Home and is confident that their continued efforts will make a lasting difference in the lives of those they serve.”
