Lilo's Story

Prior to arriving at the Home, Lilo had been through 25 placements in just one year. Despite challenges, Lilo brings bundles of energy wherever they go with a bold, creative personality.

Since coming to the Home, Lilo has worked with therapists, teachers, and specialists who helped them with social skills and past trauma. Through a supportive school program, Lilo found the quiet and focus needed to catch up in school, advancing to the 8th grade.

Family time also became a big focus. Lilo has been able to video call siblings every week in a safe space, rebuilding those important relationships. With encouragement, Lilo also learned how to conduct better self care and build healthy habits.

For the first time, Lilo got to celebrate their birthday in a meaningful way. Lilo had a lot of emotions that day, but with help, was able to navigate those emotions and experience true gratitude for the birthday sponsors and peers who were also recognizing this big day.

At the Home, Lilo finally found the stability needed to feel comfortable in their skin and navigate their mental health challenges.
