As finishing touches continue in the new Independent Living homes, it's amazing to see the care from this community in action. This village is ensuring these spaces are ready to support young adults as they take their next steps toward independence.
Just recently, the Lambda Kappa Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority at Winthrop rallied bands of students through their Hoop Dreams event, collecting and inventorying more than 500 essential food and hygiene items for the Home's new Independent Living Program. These everyday necessities will help stock pantries and cabinets, providing practical support for young adults as they build stability and move forward.

You can be part of the journey in preparing these spaces, too.
As the homes near completion, one important detail still remains: providing blinds for each room so residents have privacy, comfort, and a sense of security from their very first day.

While blinds are one of the most urgent remaining needs, the wishlist also includes everyday items that will help transform these houses into homes before residents move in.
