The Children’s Attention Home celebrated the Day Services Program's first anniversary on July 31st. The program has provided support, stability and care to more than 130 children without a stable placement in the South Carolina foster care in the first year of operation.

Due to a shortage of foster homes and suitable placements, a growing number of young people are without long-term placement. During the day, they sit in offices while caseworkers continue searching for a placement that meets their needs. The Day Services Program was created to bridge the gap for these youth and fulfill their basic needs during the day, providing support for them and freeing caseworkers to focus on the task at hand.

While at the Day Services Program, children have access to meals and snacks, showers, laundry, comfortable spaces, educational support, and activities. The program’s team works hard to ensure that all needs are being met and that they are having an enriching, fulfilling, and fun day. Relationships are a key part of the program's effectiveness.

“When the kids join in on our games or activities it makes them want to come more. Their engagement with us is so positive, and they love coming back” shared a Day Services Program teammate.
