CAH Takes on New Community Initiative

September 17, 2018

The local community has been incredibly generous to the Children’s Attention Home and 2018 has been our year to give back! Although we have traditionally hosted trainings exclusively for our employees, in May of this year, we hosted two trainings, one on youth mental health first aid and another on human trafficking that were open to the public. Because we received such a positive response from the community members who attended these training events, we have decided to continue these efforts with our new community education initiative.

The Home will be partnering with other community agencies and organizations to shed light on issues affecting youth in our area. DeVonté Walker, Outreach Coordinator, says “this gives us at the Home the perfect opportunity to not only give back to the community, but also spread more awareness about CAH and the services we provide. We want to be a beacon in the community when it comes to youth issues and learning how to best serve children, whether in our care or not.”

Community Resource Director Katy Motsinger states, “We are excited to provide opportunities for others to learn more about the hot topic issues affecting our children. We look forward to partnering with others in the community to bring information about these topics to a wider audience.”
