Charlotte, NC (2/1/2024) — Children’s Attention Home Day Services Program has been selected as one of ten innovative nonprofit participants to compete to win cash and in-kind awards by making three-minute pitches to a community audience at SEED20 OnStage. The SEED20 program, an initiative of Social Venture Partners Charlotte, returns in 2024 with the OnStage pitch showcase taking place at New Theater at Central Piedmont Community College on March 26.
“We are thrilled to once again be selected to participate in the SEED20 program,” said Katy Motsinger, Director of Development & Marketing at Children’s Attention Home. "To be in the company of these organizations doing such amazing work is an honor. I'm excited for this unique opportunity to help develop our new Day Services Program."
SEED20 seeks to identify, highlight, and connect the community to the region's most promising social entrepreneurs, such as leaders of an innovative, emerging nonprofit or an innovative new program within an established nonprofit. Once selected for SEED20, over the course of two months, ten nonprofit participants receive training, coaching, feedback, and mentoring to tell their stories succinctly and powerfully.
“SEED20 is a one-of-a-kind program exclusively showcasing nonprofit innovation and equipping participants to share their unique social programs more broadly,” said Kristin Winkle Beck, Executive Director of SVP Charlotte.
The Children’s Attention Home launched the Day Services Program in July of 2023 to care for youth in foster care during the day while they wait for placement. Since opening, the program has provided over 50 youth with basic needs, individualized attention, and compassionate care.
"This program fills a critical gap in care for kids falling through the cracks," Motsinger stated. "In 2017, this process was invaluable in helping develop and promote our Crossroads program for homeless youth. To have the opportunity to bring this problem to light and invite people into helping be part of the solution is exciting."
Since its founding in 2005, SVP Charlotte has worked with almost 200 nonprofit organizations through the various thought partnership and skill building programs it offers, including SEED20.
