“Fore the Children” Golf Tournament to raise money for local youth

April 12, 2021

Rock Hill, S.C. – Providing nurturing care and life-changing services for youth and families for 50 years, the Children’s Attention Home will host a golf tournament Monday, May 3, at the Rock Hill Country Club to benefit local children in need.

Appropriately named “Fore the Children,” the tournament offers a day of premier golfing, breakfast and lunch for golfers, prizes for top finishers, raffles and contests, and a community picnic. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., and the picnic will begin at 1 p.m.

With a goal to raise $200,000, the tournament will fund the Children’s Attention Home’s growing work of providing nurturing care and life-changing services for youth and families in need. In this challenging year, the Home has adapted to meet the ever-increasing needs of foster children across the state and homeless youth in the Carolinas. The event will feature opportunities for attendees to learn more about the impact of their support.

“It’s going to be an incredibly fun and worthwhile event for everyone,” said Laura Mahony, Chairperson of the Children’s Attention Home’s Board of Directors. “Golfers are going to really like this tournament, and everyone will enjoy the activities and fellowship at the community picnic - especially knowing how much this event helps to support the Home.”

The Children’s Attention Home provides care and support to children who have experienced trauma related to food insecurity, unstable housing, mental health disorders, and more. While living at the Home, youth learn how to break the cycle of abuse, neglect, and homelessness through individual development, education, and learning valuable life skills needed for independence. By preparing these youth for their successful transition to independence and furthering them on their path to financial stability, these children receive what they need today and are equipped with the tools to thrive tomorrow.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available at a variety of levels, from $500 to $15,000. To register for the picnic or play in the tournament, volunteer, become a sponsor, or learn more about the “Fore the Children” Golf Tournament, visit attentionhome.org/forethechildren.

For the safety of all participants, masks will be required for everyone indoors and in areas where physical distancing of 6 feet or more is not possible, and temperatures will be taken for all golfers and guests upon arrival.
